Establishment
SANN is a creative arts design company. With the desire to preserve, protect, and develop the rich cultural heritage foundation of Vietnam, SANN brings together craftsmen from communities across the country, from Bac Ninh, Mai Chau village, the H'Mong people in Ha Giang, to provinces in the South. Given our nation's rich craftsmanship heritage history, we thrive to become an ambassador for Vietnam's newest artistic perspective, expanding into our country's traditional craft villages through exquisite artworks. These handmade pieces are crafted in collaboration with Vietnamese artisans from various regions, each specializing in their century-day old traditional crafts, such as embroidery, lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, amongst others. Our collection explores the culture of Vietnam's traditional craft villages, nurtured by the hands of the next generation.
Van Nguyen was born and raised in Saigon - a city in Vietnam that is a cradle of rich art and culture. From a young age, Nguyen was immersed in the world of art, with his mother, Nguyễn Thị Thu Sương, being the owner of two renowned art galleries in the heart of Saigon. Over more than two decades, Mrs. Sương established a tight-knit network with the country's famous artists and also arranged artistic spaces for hotels.
Nguyen began his exposure to the world of art from an early age, participating in art fairs and exhibitions both domestically and internationally. These experiences opened a broad gateway for Nguyen to the arts, ranging from traditional to contemporary. After a period of studying abroad in Canada, his love for Vietnamese cuisine and culture drew Nguyen back to his homeland. His understanding and passion led him to co-found SANN Ngôi Nhà Nghệ Thuật (SANN Art House). With support from many colleagues and predecessors, Nguyên nurtures the dream of bringing the essence of fine arts into the preservation and development of Vietnam's crafts, reaching out to the younger generation and international friends, continuing the mission that Mrs. Sương started.
With our country's rich cultural heritage as a foundation, SANN aims to continue and evolve the current artistic landscape. This is a testament to the enduring sustainability of traditional crafts of Vietnam. SANN takes great pride in becoming an ambassador of Vietnamese art
